Duesseldorf, Germany, July 26, 2007 – With the SCZA2 series ALPS ELECTRIC EUROPA GmbH extends its range of connectors for W-SIM™ cards. The surface-mountable header type connectors are remarkable for their compact, low-profile design with external dimensions of only 27.2mm x 7.95mm x 4.65mm (l x w x h). For enhanced user-friendliness, the connectors feature a manual media ejection structure, which allows for an easy insertion and removal of the wireless communication modules and guarantee for an operating life of 10,000 mating/unmating cycles. The robust, high-precision manufactured card connectors are available as L-type with boss or 0.6mm-type without boss. A double contact structure for both power and ground terminals prevents from momentary power failure. The SCZA2 series provides a maximum initial contact resistance of 100mΩ and an insulation resistance of up to 1,000MΩ. The voltage proof is specified with 500VAC per minute. Operating temperatures range between –20°C and +60°C. Because of their compact external dimensions, these new connectors will increase the degree of design freedom for set makers, contributing to their efforts to produce thinner, more compact devices.
