Tiny Magnetic Sensor with Switching Output and Low Profiles of Only 0.55, 0.75 and 1.1 mm |
HGDE series from ALPS – Compact and low current consuming magnetic sensor responds to various movements |
Duesseldorf, Germany, February 27, 2008 – With the HGDE series, ALPS ELECTRIC EUROPA GmbH offers a new family of highly reliable magnetic sensors with switching output to detect opening and closing of lids and doors on all kinds of consumer equipment such as mobile phones, notebooks and digital camcorders, etc. The surface-mountable devices are available in three versions: the MAP (Mold Array Package) type, on which terminals are positioned on the reverse of the component, the SON (Small Outline Nonleaded) type, on which terminals extend from the side of the component for easier mounting, and the SOT23 (Small Outline Transistor) type. This package also has its terminals on the side. All three magnetic sensors are remarkable for their small, thin shape of only (l x w x h) 1.1mm x 0.9mm x 0.55mm (MAP), 2.1mm x 2.1mm x 0.75mm (SON) and 2.9mm x 2.8mm x 1.1mm (SOT23) as well as an operating magnetic field of 2.0mT or 3.0mT. They are designed for power supplies of 1.6V to 3.6V. Their typical current consumption is only 3.0µA at 1.8V. The magnetic field sensing is available in three variations: one-way only magnetic field sensing (single polarity/single output), two-way magnetic field sensing in either direction, output through one signal type (dual polarity/single output) and bi-polar magnetic field sensing in either direction, each with its own output signal (dual polarity/dual output); this function is only available for the types MAP and SON.
