New Card Connector for 8-pin SIM Cards
SCGC connector combines a robust, space-saving structure with ease of operability
Duesseldorf, Germany, June 09, 2009 – No other smart card has become as popular as the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card. Initially, it only helped to assure safety and identification on the net, but today it makes the mobile phone a versatile, safe terminal for a vast number of value-added mobile services like entertainment, payment and ticketing.

Especially for 8-pin SIM cards, ALPS ELECTRIC EUROPE GmbH now offers the new SCGC connector. The surface-mountable card connector is remarkable for its compact, low-profile design with external dimensions of 26.77mm x 18.44mm x 1.55mm. It features a long ejection stroke of 3.5mm for the SIM card and uses a push-push mechanism, which allows for a user-friendly and easy handling.

The robust card connector is available as standard mount type with card detection switch. It guarantees up 5.000 insertion/removal cycles and is specified for an operating temperature range between –25°C and +70°C. Further technical specifications are a maximum initial contact resistance of 100mΩ at the connector contacts and 500mΩ at the detection switch, an insulation resistance of up to 1,000MΩ and a voltage proof of 500VAC per minute. The card connector complies with the RoHS directive and is suitable for reflow soldering. The maximum reflow soldering temperature is 240°C for 10s. For automatic mounting, it is available on tape & reel packaging with minimum packing units of 1,000 pieces.
The SCGC connector is the ideal solution for mobile phones, smart phones, PDAs, notebooks, etc.
