Waterproof Detector Switches with Bent Press-Fit Terminals for Automotive Applications |
Duesseldorf, Germany, July 12, 2010 – Devices and components installed in automobiles are exposed to water, dust, and other adverse conditions, but in the interests of maximizing safety, such components must be highly reliable. With the SPVQA series, ALPS ELECTRIC EUROPE GmbH offers waterproof detector switches with left- or right-hand side bent press-fit terminals for easy mounting without soldering. Housed in a 15.2mm x 6.4mm x 7.95mm (W x D x H) case, they are an ideal solution for automotive applications such as the mechanical detection of the position of doors, engine bonnets etc. The vertically actuated push switches are remarkable for their small dimensions, high contact stability and long operating life of 300,000 switching cycles. Conceived as 1-pole 1-position switches, the SPVQA series is rated for switching currents of minimum 50µA at 5VDC or maximal 0.1A at 12VDC respectively. The necessary operating force accounts for 1±0.5N. Operating temperatures range from –40°C to +85°C. To ensure reliable stable contacts when exposed to mechanical shock and vibration, the detector switches use a double-sided sliding-contact point structure. They offer an initial contact resistance with a maximum of 500mΩ. Other specifications include an insulation resistance of 100MΩ at 500VDC, and a voltage proof of up to 500VAC for one minute. The voltage drop amounts to a maximum of 0.2V. The SPVQA series meets the RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substances) directives and is available in minimum packaging units of 150 pieces.
