ALPS Extends Connector Series for TransFlash Memory Cards
Hinge cover simplifies memory card handling
Duesseldorf, Germany, July 19, 2005 - With the SCHB series ALPS Electric Europa GmbH extends its range of connectors for the TransFlash™ memory cards. The surface-mountable devices are designed as standard mount type. They feature a hinge cover with an opening angle of 90 degrees, which allows for an user-friendly and easy handling through manual couple and decouple of the TransFlash™ memory card. An implemented lock mechanism prevents the memory card from falling down while in operation.

The SCHB series is remarkable for its compact external dimensions of 15.0mm x 14.6mm x 1.93mm (l x w x h). It is rated for 3.6VDC and up to 0.5A per pin and allows up to 500 mating and unmating cycles. The operating temperature ranges from –20°C to +70°C. Further technical specifications are a maximum initial contact resistance of 100mΩ, an insulation resistance of up to 1,000MΩ and a voltage proof of 500VAC per minute. The card connectors are suitable for lead-free reflow soldering. Packaged on embossed tape, they are available in minimum packing units of 1,400 pieces.

ALPS’ accumulated precision micropress technology and polymer processing technology made it possible to develop smaller and thinner connectors. Because of their slim external dimensions these connectors will increase the degrees of design freedom for set makers, contributing to their efforts to produce thinner, more compact devices. Typical applications are next-generation mobile phones.
