Pfaff-silberblau premieres its hand wire rope winch OMEGA Ex for use in potentially explosive atmospheres |
Lifting equipment specialist extends ATEX product range (1) |
Kissing and Hannover, 27 May 2008 – At CeMAT 2008, Pfaff-silberblau Hebezeugfabrik GmbH, Kissing/Germany, is presenting a number of new developments for lifting equipment for use in a potentially explosive atmosphere in the ATEX protection zones 1 and 2. In Hall 12, at Stand B58, the company is presenting its new hand wire rope winch OMEGA Ex among other things, as well and the wall-mounted rack and pinion jack ZWW Ex for use in a potentially explosive atmosphere. The hand wire rope winch OMEGA Ex is a brand new construction from the Pfaff-silberblau stable. It marks the beginning of a line of wire rope winches which will be available from August 2008 onwards. The engineers at the specialist for lifting and material handling have developed the OMEGA Ex especially to meet the high safety requirements in potentially explosive areas. This extends the field of application for hand wire rope winches made by Pfaff-silberblau. The hand wire rope winch OMEGA Ex is available for taking three different loads – 400 kg, 630 kg and 900 kg – and is available with a 10 m lifting height. It can now also be used in critical environments in which there is a potentially explosive atmosphere, such as in the chemical or petrochemical industry. In cooperation with TÜV, the engineers at Pfaff-silberblau have successfully subjected the new OMEGA Ex to numerous hazard and ignition source analyses. The result of this is that the hand wire rope winch is now licensed for use in ATEX areas in category 2 (= Zone 1/21) and category 3 (= Zone 2/22). Category 2 includes equipment that provides a high level of safety even where disruptions are expected. Category 3 covers equipment which provides a standard level of safety when used normally. The hand wire rope winch has been developed on the basis of the standards DIN EN 1127 (potentially explosive atmospheres - protection against explosion), DIN EN 13463-1, -5, -8 (Non-Electrical Equipment for Potentially Explosive Atmospheres) and BGR 132 (Avoidance of ignition hazards due to static electricity) and is labelled Ex II 2 DG ck 195 °C (IIB T3). This means that all individual components of the OMEGA Ex are constructed from an energy engineering point of view in such a way that undue heating of the surfaces can be effectively prevented. Apart from that, the carefully selected materials and sophisticated construction of the wire rope winch prevent any mechanically induced sparks, for example through foreign materials penetrating them. Equalisation of potential and surface restriction also prevent the new ATEX winch from becoming statically charged. Ex-protected wall mounted rack and pinion jack ZWW Ex Another new item introduced at CeMAT by Pfaff-silberblau is the wall-mounted rack and pinion jack ZWW Ex for use in potentially explosive atmosphere. It has also been constructed with a tensile load of 250 kg in accordance with the increased protection regulations in potentially explosive atmospheres and can now be used in combination with the hand wire rope winch OMEGA Ex in protection zones 1 and 2. Apart from the hand wire rope winch OMEGA Ex and the wall-mounted rack and pinion jack ZWW Ex in ATEX design, Pfaff-silberblau is also presenting other highlights from its current product range of lifting and material handling equipment at CeMAT 2008. At stand B58 in Hall 12 among other things you will find the revolutionary, user-friendly. electric pallet truck FLEX MOTION, the newly designed electric stacker series EGV ESL as well as the smooth running electric pallet truck JOKER CLASSIC with a manual lift. |
