Pfaff-silberblau presents with new ZWW Ex wall-mounted rack and pinion jack for use in potentially explosive and hygienically critical areas
Lifting equipment specialist extends ATEX product range (2)
Kissing and Hannover, 27 May 2008 – Top performance, long service life and high safety standards – these features make lifting equipment from Pfaff-silberblau Hebezeugfabrik GmbH, Kissing/Germany, the tool of choice in a wide range of applications. At CeMAT 2008 in Hall 12, Stand B58 the company is now presenting new models of its tried and trusted products for ATEX areas in zones 1 and 2 or respectively category 2 and 3: The wall-mounted rack and pinion jack ZWW Ex and also the hand wire rope winch OMEGA Ex for use in potentially explosive areas.

The wall-mounted rack and pinion jack by Pfaff-silberblau owes the expansion in its range of applications to the use of carefully selected materials and top quality coating. These prevent any mechanically induced sparks from being generated. Here, all the individual components are designed from an electrical engineering point of view in such a way that the surfaces can not heat up unduly. Equalisation of potential and surface restriction prevent the wall-mounted rack and pinion jack from becoming statically charged.

Using the lifting equipment that has been improved in this way, the ZWW Ex can lift, lower, pull and push, move horizontally, support, adjust or fix loads of up to 250 kg – such as heavy components or whole instruments and machines. A lubricated, self-locking worm gear is set in motion by turning the crank handle, thus not only moving the load with ease, but also reliably securing it in any position.

Apart from its classic use in industrial assembly and production, this now predestines the ZWW Ex from Pfaff-silberblau also for use in potentially explosive areas in plant construction, shipping or in  waste-water treatment plants and also in hygienically sensitive environments, such as in the chemical industry or in the food industry. For the industries mentioned last, the winch is also available in stainless steel or alternately with a metallic or ceramic coating.

The engineers at Pfaff-silberblau have subjected all the individual components of the wall-mounted rack and pinion jack ZWW Ex to a hazard analysis in accordance with EU directive 94/9/EC, taking into consideration the standards DIN EN 1127-1 (Potentially explosive atmospheres - protection against explosion), DIN EN 13463-1, -5, DIN EN 13463-5 (Non-Electrical Equipment for Potentially Explosive Atmospheres) as well as BGR 132 (Avoidance of ignition hazards due to static electricity).

The wall-mounted rack and pinion jack ZWW Ex is thus suitable for ATEX areas in category 2 (= Zone 1/21) and category 3 (= Zone 2/22) and is labelled Ex II 2 DG c 195 °C (IIB T3). Category 2 includes equipment that provides a high level of safety even where disruptions are expected. Category 3 covers equipment which provides a standard level of safety when used normally.

Hand wire rope winch OMEGA Ex for ATEX protection zones 1 and 2

Another new construction by Pfaff-silberblau is the hand wire rope winch OMEGA Ex which is also Ex protected. It has been especially developed for the high safety requirements in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX protective zones 1 and 2) and is available with three different loads – 400 kg, 630 kg and 900 kg – and a lifting height of 10 m. It is particularly used in critical environments in which there is a potentially explosive atmosphere, such as in the chemical or petrochemical industry.

Apart from the wall-mounted rack and pinion jack ZWW Ex in ATEX design and the Ex-protected hand wire rope winch OMEGA Ex, Pfaff-silberblau is also presenting other highlights from its current product range for lifting and material handling equipment at CeMAT 2008. At stand B58 in Hall 12 among other things you will find the new electric pallet truck JOKER CLASSIC with a manual lift, the revolutionary user-friendly, pallet truck FLEX MOTION as well as the newly designed electric stacker series EGV ESL.
