SATURN puts an end to "home made" supports for the machining of turned parts |
An ideal combination of work safety, economy and flexibility: The new turned-part stabilizer from ALLTEC Antriebstechnik |
Heilbronn/Kissing, Germany, 2 July 2009 – ALLTEC Antriebstechnik located in Heilbronn, Germany, a subsidiary of the Pfaff-silberblau Group with headquarters in Kissing, Germany, is now introducing the new SATURN turned-part stabilizer, an indispensible aid for modern machining of turned parts. SATURN reliably prevents vibration (whipping action) of working pieces that project beyond the lathe. This method is significantly safer than “do-it-yourself” workpiece supports (or stands) and is more economical than many short bar feeders. The new turned-part stabilizer is based on the proven PHOENIX telescopic lifting column from ALLTEC Antriebstechnik. In this case, the device has a standard lifting height of 400 mm. Using a handwheel on the lifting column, machine operators can adjust the height to match any machine and then lock the device securely. SATURN also demonstrates great flexibility when it comes to holding the turned parts that are to be machined: Easy-to-swap spindle rings that are available in five different sizes and in plastic or brass make it possible to reliably stabilize turned parts with a diameter of up to 100 mm. Easy handling makes it possible to reduce set-up times for new stock, thus accelerating return on investment for the SATURN equipment. SATURN adapts well to a wide variety of environments: The floor fastening is adapted to the specific workshop floor. If required, it can also make sense to install a floor track system so that several turned-part stabilizers can be set up in series and then moved back and forth flexibly depending on the length of the part to be machined. For example, when part protrusion exceeds 2x5xD, it makes sense to employ two SATURN supports in series to improve safety in this work area. The new turned-part stabilizer from ALLTEC Antriebstechnik can be used with all commonly available CNC and conventional lathes. The maximum number of part revolutions per minute is 1800. The maximum permissible load for SATURN is 5000 N.
