David with Goliath`s strength: SHE-Y from Pfaff-silberblau offers maximum lift within minimal dimensions |
Kissing, Germany, 13 August 2009 - When it comes to lifting heavy loads reliably and safely, the worm gear screw jacks from Pfaff-silberblau Hebezeugfabrik GmbH of Kissing, Germany, are always a first-rate choice. In a recent application, the specialist for actuator technology has demonstrated that, even with high-powered equipment, size is not the key factor: A customer needed a lifting unit that would fit into the small space specified by the designers yet still provide the highest lifting capacity possible. Since the minimal amount of space available did not allow for load guidance within the client’s portion of the construction, Pfaff-silberblau also had to integrate this function into the lifting unit. The engineers at Pfaff-silberblau were up to the challenge: They developed a small, yet powerful system with an installation height of just 327 mm, a lift stroke of 200 mm, a load capacity of 6 t and a lifting speed of 0.2 m/min. The SHE-Y in a customer-specific configuration with a space-saving telescopic design is based on the proven standard version of Pfaff-silberblau’s 25-ton worm gear screw jacks from the SHE model series. With this telescoping spindle system, which consists of a trapezoidal screw and a pipe screw, it is possible to achieve very low installation heights. In order to ensure rapid availability of the lifting system, the actuator technology team from Pfaff-silberblau employed the worm wheel set and the bearing nut from the standard SHE model series and modified them for this special application. The end plate used to receive the load is located at the end of the trapezoidal worm gear screw. This plate offers enough space for numerous centering points and receptacles for a wide variety of add-on parts. A four-pillar guide that is integrated into the gear box case ensures that no lateral forces strain the worm gear/nut system. The integrated linear guide bushings and the guide rods that are fastened to the end plate guide the load across the entire stroke length and make it possible to handle a lateral force of 5 kN when in the extended position, while allowing very little lateral play and providing additional protection against twisting. In this customer-specific system, four SHE-Y units lift a total load of 24 t. To accomplish this, each unit is driven by a special 2.2-kW gear motor that is equipped with an absolute encoder and ensures that the four lifting units run synchronously via a controller. The mechanical limit switch that has been integrated into the lifting system secures the reference position. The special housing for the robust lifting unit from Pfaff-silberblau is made of high-grade steel. Special bores on the bottom and sides make it possible to adapt to the customer-specific steel construction. At Motek 2009, Pfaff-silberblau and its subsidiary ALLTEC Antriebstechnik will be presenting their offerings in Hall 5 at Booth 5428. In addition to the proven SHE units, they will be presenting a series of new products, such as the TARVOS actuators by ALLTEC Antriebstechnik. |
