Grand premiere for new compact theatre winch EPSILON from Pfaff-silberblau |
Kissing (Germany), 17 June 2013 - At Showtech 2013, Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products GmbH from Kissing/Germany is presenting its new theatre winch EPSILON of the Pfaff-silberblau brand for the first time. The most notable feature of the EPSILON is its compact design, since it has been developed specifically for use in confined spaces by the company’s experienced specialists for stage technology, who know only too well the limited space available in the fly-grid of theatres from their installation work. Compact and cost-efficient The new theatre winch EPSILON from Pfaff-silberblau corresponds in terms of its design to a bobbin and winds up the rope uniformly. For this reason, it has a rope direction angle of 0° and zero clearance to the first pulley block, which accounts for its compact dimensions (length 1,470mm x width 400mm x height 1,590mm). The smallest size is even so slim that it provides a simple means for electrifying hand counterweight systems. By contrast, the drum radius of the EPSILON winch is large, which protects the rope and, as a result, helps to ensure a longer service life coupled with lower maintenance costs. The EPSILON pulls all the ropes completely under the fly-grid, leaving it virtually clear. There is no need for a complicated, heavy and above all expensive head pulley block. Neither is there any need for a rope pressure drum – which in turn reduces the control costs and helps to make the new theatre winch even more cost-efficient. Multi-variant and versatile The versatile new winch from Pfaff-silberblau is available in the three load categories 500kg, 750kg and 1,000kg as well as in up to an 8-rope design. With a vertical lifting height of up to 24m and a lifting speed of max. 1,8m/s, the winch is ideally suited for a wide range of applications in stage technology, for example above the stage for moving props and scenery or above the audience for lighting and sound systems. At the same time, its plastic drum dampens any noises, allowing it to operate almost silently. It is possible to change the rope course of the EPSILON winch without modification. The control is equally as variable: The winch can be supplied both with or without a frequency converter and, depending on the requirements, controlled either centrally or locally. Last but not least, the new theatre winch from Pfaff-silberblau can be installed without any problems thanks to the good position of its centre of gravity, as it can be transported easily by crane, fork lift or pallet truck to the place of installation.
