Safe lifting technology from Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products for ergonomic switch cabinet installation at Liebherr |
Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products, Kissing (Germany), has installed safe lifting technology from the Pfaff-silberblau brand in the new switch cabinet factory of Liebherr-Components Biberach GmbH. When constructing its new factory buildings for the production of switching systems, power electronics and electrical machinery, Liebherr put great emphasis on ergonomics and safety. This saw the work stations being equipped with flexible lifting tables of the HTA series from Pfaff-silberblau, which can be individually adjusted to the perfect installation height, while all their wires and cables are installed entirely underfloor. Custom-built lifting tables In total, some 32 HTA industrial plant lifting tables from Pfaff-silberblau are used in Liebherr's switch cabinet installation facility. In the section for the installation of switch cabinets into construction machines, in which loads of up to 4 tonnes have to be lifted, the tables provide a platform size of 2020 mm x 970 mm and a lift of 800 mm. For the rest of the switch cabinet installation facility, the platforms are slightly more compact in design with the dimensions 1220 mm x 870 mm, a maximum lifting capacity of one tonne and a lifting height of up to 750 mm. Safe in every position All the lifting tables are equally reliable and safe in terms of their performance. At the touch of a button, they lift the heavy cabinets to the required ergonomic installation height. The scissor design of the HTA from Pfaff-silberblau holds the load reliably in place and in doing so ensures the safety of the employees at all times. When the lifting tables are not in use, they can be lowered down to ground level on the factory floor into oil-tight containers. A safety contact-rail protects the pinch points when lowering the table. A further safety advantage is that the entire power supply for the HTA industrial plant lifting tables is installed underfloor, meaning that there are no trip hazards whatsoever caused by cables installed aboveground. Altogether, Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products supplied 32 lifting tables of the HTA series plus control system for Liebherr's new switch cabinet factory in addition to a number of lifting columns of the PHOENIX series, which Liebherr uses in other production areas for special lifting tables and adjustable lifting posts in the factory buildings.
