IAR Systems provides complete development tool suite for Texas Instruments’ Hercules Safety platform |
Uppsala, SWEDEN—October 19, 2011—IAR Systems announced its complete support for Texas Instruments’ newly launched Hercules safety platform. Providing design, verification/validation tools, a complete C/C++ build chain compliant with ISO/ANSI C, built-in MISRA support and emulator test tools, IAR Systems offers a complete development suite for developers of systems characterized by high requirements on functional safety in medical devices, industrial automation, automotive, railway and aerospace systems. “Many of our customers within medical, industrial and transportation applications areas develop systems with high requirements on functional safety. They welcome the new Hercules platform with its built-in hardware safety features. We are pleased to be able to offer them a seamless set of software development tools that correspond to the safety level established with Hercules,” says Stefan Skarin, CEO of IAR Systems. “Our tools are field-proven since many years by customers with high safety requirements. Combined with technical support and extended support services our tools will help companies meet their safety requirements as well as their time-to-market requirements— an advantage that only a complete suite of development tools will give.” IAR Systems’ offering includes: IAR Embedded Workbench is a completely integrated development environment for developing, building, and debugging embedded applications with strong requirements on performance and reliability. It is the world’s most widely used tool chain for ARM-based microcontrollers and includes full device support including configuration files and flash loaders for TI’s Hercules RM4x, Hercules TMS570 and Hercules TMS470 MCU families. IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM provides hardware debug support— including the XDS100v2 emulator for TMS570— for all TI Hercules MCU families, allowing software applications to be debugged on hardware in real-time using the IAR C-SPY debugger. TI’s peripheral configuration tool HALCoGen includes support for IAR Embedded Workbench. IAR visualSTATE is a set of highly sophisticated and easy-to-use development tools for designing, testing and implementing embedded applications based on state machines, typical for many safety-critical systems. IAR visualSTATE provides advanced verification and validation utilities and generates very compact C/C++ code that is 100 % consistent with your system design. JTAGjet is a real-time in-circuit debugger developed by Signum Systems, recently acquired by IAR Systems. JTAGjet comes with the powerful Chameleon Debugger software and supports the ARM Cortex-M3 and ARM Cortex-R4F devices included in the Hercules platform. Through its RTOS Partner Program, IAR Systems works closely with several vendors of RTOS products certified to the international safety standard IEC61508. IAR KickStart Kit for Hercules RM48 with development board and software tools will become available later this year. |
