Convergence 2006 - Infineon Puts Innovative Integration on Display at Major Automotive Industry Conference |
Detroit, Michigan, and Munich, Germany – October 16, 2006 – As the global automotive industry gathers in Detroit this week to explore the technology of automotive electronics, Infineon Technologies AG (FSE/NYSE: IFX) is announcing and demonstrating new semiconductor products and platforms that will help drive industry innovation in powertrain, safety and comfort management systems. During the three-day (October 16 – 18) Convergence 2006 conference, the automotive industry focuses on the challenges and opportunities presented by the growing role of advanced electronics in personal transportation. This growing role for electronics in new cars and trucks is driving stronger cooperation and collaboration across the entire design and production value chain. Infineon is helping to address this challenge with its Automotive Excellence™ program, probably the most extensive quality management program in the semiconductor industry, its strong partnership with system suppliers and car manufacturers, and its dedicated cooperation in standardization activities. At Convergence, Infineon is showing products from the chip industry’s broadest portfolio of integrated circuits (ICs) and power electronics devices for automotive system applications. Reflecting the value of close partnering between chip providers, automotive systems suppliers and car manufacturers, many of these products are shown in demonstration platforms that serve as complete starter kits for design evaluation and development. Platforms and products shown in the company’s booth (#1124) include, for example:
While Infineon products typically are optimized for performance in specific applications, they share common elements driven by the company’s 30-year history as a supplier to the automotive electronics industry. This includes Automotive Excellence, the company’s commitment to meeting the quality and reliability requirements of automotive applications. Infineon also is active in the technical sessions that are an important part of the conference. Dr. Reinhard Ploss, COO of Infineon’s Automotive, Industrial and Multimarket (AIM) Business Group, is a member of the Convergence 2006 Technical Council, and Chair of the “Long Term Drivetrain” Technical Session (October 18, 2:30 – 5:00 p.m). Patrick Leteinturier of Infineon’s technical staff will present a paper on improved microcontroller performance and features as part of the “Drivetrain Technology and Progress” Technical Session (October 16, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.). “Looking at the level of innovation coming from the design and engineering groups at automotive OEM and supplier companies, it is hard to believe that the industry is more than 100 years old,” said Christopher Cook, General Manager of AIM Business Group, Infineon Technologies North America Corp. “Every aspect of the modern car is open to rethinking and rapid evolution, and Infineon is very excited to be a part of the reinvention of personal transportation systems that is the focus of the Convergence conference.” |
