DareGlobal Selects Infineon's AMAZON-SE ADSL2/ 2+ System-on-a-Chip |
Neubiberg, Germany, October 8, 2007 – Infineon Technologies AG (FSE/NYSE: IFX) a leading supplier of communication ICs, today announced that DareGlobal Technologies Co., Ltd. has selected the Infineon AMAZON-SE System-on-a-Chip (SoC) for its modem/router solutions. "The AMAZON-SE enabled us to realize the smallest dimensions for an ADSL Modem, possible by the extreme low power consumption consequentially reduced heating, in the housing. The modem can be powered by a single USB power cord making the overall power supply redundant and further reducing the overall cost of ADSL2/ 2+ modems,” stated Zhengwei Xu, President and CEO of DareGlobal. “We see the Infineon Solution as a cornerstone in developing next generation modem and router products. “ “We are very proud to expand our markets presence with AMAZON-SE. Our offering is a highly integrated single chip design including line driver, which provides a new level of optimization for overall system cost and power consumption in the ADSL2/2+ markets. The state of the art design is an integral part of our DSL CPE portfolio and perfectly suits the requirements for emerging markets, and support the worldwide growth of broadband applications,” said Christian Wolff, Senior Vice President of the Communication Solutions business group and General Manager of the Wireline Access business unit at Infineon. Infineon Technologies has already started shipment of the AMAZON-SE to DareGlobal. The AMAZON-SE enables customers to offer cost effective, energy efficient solutions to address the high growth emerging broadband markets. It was uniquely designed to help drive broadband penetration in cost sensitive emerging markets by combining reduced chip and system costs with high-quality and added flexibility. The SoC enables system providers to serve multiple applications and markets using the same hardware / software platform. Infineon Technologies is currently shipping the AMAZON-SE to DareGlobal. About the AMAZON-SE The Amazon-SE is an ADSL2/ 2+ System-on-a-Chip (SoC) for customer premises equipment (CPE). It is the third generation of the field-proven Infineon ADSL2/ 2+ CPE chip solutions, targeting bridge-modem (Ethernet, USB)- and routing applications. The chip’s highly integrated design helps cut the external components count of an ADSL2/ 2+ modem by as much as ten percent compared with existing solutions, setting industry benchmarks for low BOM (bill-of-materials) costs and reduced system complexity. It also features the lowest power consumption for an ADSL2/ 2+ solution in the market. Additional information about the AMAZON-SE can be found on: http://www.infineon.com/amazon |
