Infineon’s ARM®-based Microcontroller Development Tools and Kits Named ‘Editor’s Choice’ by Embedded Computing Design
Milpitas, CA – March 17, 2014 – Infineon Technologies today announced that its XMC4500 development kits and software tools were selected as an "Editor’s Choice" by Embedded Computing Design.

The award citation published in the February 2014 issue of Embedded Computing Design states: “The next step in microcontroller development is here: By combining software application development with constraint logic programming familiar in the FPGA world, Infineon has provided evaluation platforms, development environment and libraries that enable greater power efficiency, connectivity, and accelerate time to market.”

“We’re honored to receive the prestigious Embedded Computing Design Editor’s Choice Award,” said Shawn Slusser, Vice President of the Automotive division at Infineon Technologies North America Corp. “The award recognizes our leadership in design of a ‘whole package’ for real-time critical systems, with the software to support development based on the innovative hardware architecture. The XMC family is a unique fit for applications such as motor control, power conversion, factory and building automation, renewable energy, transportation, LED lighting and home appliances.”

The editors recognized the XMC4500 Relax and Relax Lite kits, which feature an ARM® Cortex™-M4 based XMC4500 microcontroller, on-board memory and Ethernet-enabled communication to support development of embedded web server, Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Internet of Things applications. They also cited the more extensive XMC4000 Application Kit and the availability of Infineon’s DAVE™ development and configuration environment.

DAVE is a free, integrated development platform for all XMC microcontrollers. The framework, with more than 170 apps available for download, provides ease of development and assured scalability of applications across different target performance levels.

Availability

Seventy variants of the XMC4000 and XMC1000 microcontroller families are now available, with optimizations for system designs supporting renewable energy, factory and building automation, transportation, logistics and medical equipment, lighting and home appliance applications.  More information is available at www.infineon.com/xmc.
