Infineon Receives Prestigious IEC InfoVision Award for VDSL2 IAD in the category Broadband Appliances, Devices, and Home Networking Solutions |
Hong-Kong, SAR China - May 17, 2006 - Infineon Technologies was awarded today with the International Engineering Consortium’s (IEC) InfoVision Award at the Broadband World Forum (BBWF) Asia in Hong-Kong. Infineon’s complete VDSL2 design of an integrated access device (IAD) based on the company’s advanced semiconductor solutions, received the award in the category of Broadband Appliances, Devices, and Home Networking. The IEC’s InfoVision Award program recognizes technologies, applications, products, advances, and services judged to be most unique and beneficial to the telecommunications industry. InfoVision Awards also honor corporations and individuals for their innovative contributions and developments that have proven important to society. “Infineon is honored to be selected by IEC for its prestigious InfoVision award,” said Martin Schenk, Vice President of marketing of Infineon Communication Solution’s Access Business Unit. “The award is recognition of our commitment to drive innovation and of our leadership in the VDSL2 arena which was recently underlined when Infineon was selected to provide its VINAX™ VDSL2 chip-set to Deutsche Telekom’s new hyper-speed network.” Infineon’s VDSL2 IAD reference design is centered around the VINAX-CPE single-chip solution and demonstrates Infineon’s extensive CPE semiconductors portfolio and system know-how. Supporting data rates of up to symmetric 100Mbit/s the VDSL2 IAD also features Infineon’s VINETIC dual-port VoIP processor and the powerful wireless network processor WildPass. A five-port Ethernet switch, ADM6996I, and a USB2 to Ethernet converter, the ADM8525 provide additional interfaces for PCs, printers or scanners. Infineon also offers Spinacer, a comprehensive application software suite for a complete hardware/software offering. Feature-rich IADs are the next evolutionary step in VDSL2 based CPE systems. Infineon provides its customers with the complete, innovatively integrated VDSL2 IAD enabling them to shorten design cycles, eliminate the troubles of integrating multiple components at the customer side, and bring system complexity to a minimum. |
