Press release by Inova Semiconductors on behalf of the ISELED Alliance |
Marquardt, Preh and TactoTek further strengthen the ISELED Alliance as new members |
Latest developments based on the innovative LED technology will be presented at the ISELED workshop in Munich |
Munich, 24 August 2020 – The ISELED technology meanwhile is supported by more than 30 members in the ISELED Alliance. This open, industrial alliance has the objective of developing a comprehensive system solution for innovative automotive lighting based on the ISELED technology. Recently Marquardt, Preh and TactoTek have joined the Alliance as new members which will further strengthen and diversify the opportunities of this innovative technology. Strong industry support With Marquardt, Preh and TactoTek as new members, the ISELED Alliance is further growing, as more and more companies see the potential of this innovative technology. So as of August 2020, the ISELED Alliance consists of (in alphabetic order): Allegro MicroSystems, Brightek, Cemm Thome, designLED, Dominant Opto Technologies, Dräxlmaier, Dr. Schneider, Elmos, Everlight, feno, Grupo Antolin, Hella, Inova Semiconductors, iSYS RTS, ITSWELL, Lightworks, Lucie Labs, Magna Lighting, Marquardt, Melexis, Microchip, novem, NXP, Osram Opto Semiconductors, Pforzheim University, Preh, Prettl Group, TactoTek, Techniplas, TE Connectivity, UG Systems, Valeo and Xingyu, Further information at: https://www.iseled.com/ Marquardt, a family-run company founded in 1925 and based in Rietheim-Weilheim, Germany, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of electromechanical and electronic switches and switching systems. The products of the mechatronics expert are used by many well-known customers in the automotive industry and include operating components, vehicle access, driver authorization systems and battery management systems. Marquardt Group employs approximately 10,500 members of staff worldwide at 20 locations in four continents. The company generated 1.3 billion euros sales revenue in the fiscal year 2019. Each year, Marquardt invests around ten percent of its revenues in research & development. As a global automotive supplier, the Preh Group employs about 7,000 people and generated a turnover of 1.5 billion Euros in 2019. Preh was founded in Bad Neustadt a. d. Saale in 1919 and has been part of the Joyson Group - one of the world's 30 largest automotive suppliers - since 2011. Preh’s development and manufacturing capabilities include in particular HMI systems for passenger cars and commercial vehicles as well as e-mobility control units. “As a new member of the ISELED Alliance, Preh will contribute its comprehensive Know-how on smart surfaces. We have a longtime experience with the lighting of user interfaces and did pioneering work on black panel effect applications. In combination with our sister company Joyson Quin, specialized on interior trim, we are able to create new impulses for smart surfaces,” said Dr. Stephan Weng, CEO of Preh. The Finland-based TactoTek is dedicated to developing, industrializing and commercializing injection molded structural electronics (IMSE) technology that transforms the way electronics are designed and built. Manufacturing IMSE parts uses clean additive processes, less plastics and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. “Illumination is a key feature in IMSE designs and ISELED system-in-package (SiP) LEDs simplify implementing the advanced lighting solutions our customers want,” noted Jussi Harvela, CEO, TactoTek. “To combine the strengths of each of our technologies, we are working with ISELED partners to test and verify that ISELED LEDs can be molded within TactoTek’s cost efficient, single piece, 3D smart surfaces using standard high volume IMSE manufacturing techniques.” Growing ISELED portfolio Various solutions focusing on the automotive market are continuously being developed by ISELED alliance members. The product range includes smart LED modules, standalone drivers/controllers, dedicated microcontrollers and development kits. Systems combining ISELED components with optics are under development. And the success story continues, the Alliance just has finalized the specification of the 2nd generation ISELED: The new products will feature higher color point accuracy over the complete temperature range and higher current classes. A further milestone is the expansion of the original local ISELED protocol to a true field bus across the automobile. This was done by the development of the ILaS bus concept (ISELED Light and Sensor network). With ILaS not only LEDs - RGB or Infrared for example - but also other components such as Matrix LED lights, sensors and actuators can be controlled in large numbers via a simple unshielded two-wire cable. A first test chip of ILaS already is available fully proving all objectives set including the targeted high EMC robustness. On September 3rd, 2020 the 3rd ISELED Conference in the format of a combined on-site and livestream “Workshop” will take place where the ISELED Alliance members will present all this in detail together with latest products and systems solutions around ISELED: https://www.iseled-conference.com/ |
