F.A.Z.-Institut again honours Inova Semiconductors as innovation leader in Germany |
In its current study, "Germany's Innovation Leaders 2022", the F.A.Z.-Institut – a subsidiary of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung – once again counts the Munich-based semiconductor company among the leading innovation drivers. |
Munich, June 02, 2022 – The study, "Germany's Innovation Leaders 2022", conducted on behalf of the F.A.Z.-Institut and IMWF institute for management and economic research and Prognos AG as a scientific partner, provides an up-to-date and comprehensive overview of German innovation leaders. The results show: Inova Semiconductors is one of them, as it was in 2021. A total of 180,000 global companies and 33,000 companies operating in Germany were assessed for their innovative strength. The study was based on the registered patents and the significance of these patents for the development of the industry. "The repeat award by the F.A.Z.-Institut as "Germany's Innovation Leaders 2022" is a great honour for us," says Robert Kraus, CEO of Inova Semiconductors. "Despite a very difficult market environment due to the pandemic, Inova Semiconductors has shown that it remains an innovative company even in exceptional times. With our APIX, ISELED and ILAS solutions, we were and are pioneers in the introduction of innovative technologies." Patents prove innovative strength The study analysed all patent families worldwide over the last ten years. Based on established metrics, the innovation leadership of their applicants and their research activities in Germany were evaluated for over 500 fields of technology and knowledge. The study is based on data from the EPO Worldwide Patent Statistical Database (PATSTAT) of the European Patent Office. This database contains more than 100 million patents from all leading industrialised and developing countries and, therefore, from all economically important countries in the world. Patents provide a far-reaching insight into the research activities of companies, that no other data source can offer. The innovation and leadership of companies in Germany are measured using two metrics: "leadership – how much does an invention influence other inventions?" and, "novelty/innovativeness of the invention – how much can an invention be differentiated from previous inventions?" For each field of knowledge and technology, those companies were counted as German innovation leaders that were cited by others with above-average frequency and thus played a significant role in shaping the corresponding field of knowledge and technology. The names of the innovation leaders were published exclusively on the website of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: https://www.faz.net/asv/deutschlands-innovationsfuehrer/ |
