TE Connectivity's ALR 11000 digital photocell with dimming capability helps significantly reduce electricity costs for street lighting |
Zhaga D4i-certified ALR digital photocells from TE help lower power consumption and reduce CO2 emissions |
BERWYN, Pennsylvania – July 3, 2024 – TE Connectivity, a world leader in connectors and sensors, launches the Zhaga-D4i certified ALR 11000 digital dimming photocell. TE’s latest photocell controls the on/off switching of a streetlight, and also has the ability to dim the light source during preset hours of the dark period. The intelligent and sustainable operation of streetlighting helps to increase nighttime safety, while reducing light pollution, energy consumption and utility costs in public spaces. The ALR 11000 photocells are typically used to light roads, walk and cycle ways, car parks, railway stations, parks and recreational areas. ALR 11000 photocells can dim the light source to a preset value, enabling energy savings of up to 23%, helping to reduce CO2 emissions. Zhaga technology conquering the market Zhaga-D4i certification is gaining in popularity. The certification makes it easier for manufacturers to develop products that can be easily integrated into lighting systems to meet the market's increasing demands for flexibility, efficiency and interoperability. The ALR 11000 photocell is compatible with all Zhaga-D4i-certified luminaires. It fits easily into the Zhaga-D4i ecosystem, which is currently considered the standard for smart cities. The photocell can be used as a stand-alone control device or in combination with Zhaga-D4i-certified TE’s LUMAWISE Motion sensors. It offers compact dimensions for a high degree of design freedom for decorative and historical luminaires. With an operating temperature range from -40°C to +80°C, the ALR 11000 photocell can be used in permanently powered streetlighting infrastructures in all weathers. Digital dimming photocell with built-in Astro Clock TE provides tools to identify the correct Astro Clock zone. The Astro Clock of the ALR 11000 works in combination with a built-in automatic calibration process. For the first three nights it uses sunrise and sunset to set a virtual midnight. Partnered with the Astro Clock a proprietary algorithm allows a virtual midnight to be defined within ±15 minutes without the need for an expensive GPS radio.
