A Commitment to the Eclipse Foundation: Vector Supports the Community for Open Innovation and Collaboration
Stuttgart, GERMANY,  2023-05-03 – Vector is strengthening its commitment to the Eclipse Foundation: In addition to contributing to the further development of the integrated development environment Eclipse IDE, the Stuttgart-based specialist for automotive embedded software and system networking is taking on a responsible position on the Board of Directors.

From April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, Johannes Matheis, a senior manager of the company, will represent the approximately 200 Contributing Members on the Board of Directors of the Eclipse Foundation as one of three elected representatives.

"I already represent Vector on the Steering Committee of the Eclipse IDE Working Group. As a participant in various Eclipse conferences, I have followed the development of the Eclipse IDE and the Eclipse Foundation over the years. As a member of the Eclipse Board of Directors, I would like to strengthen my contribution even more," says Johannes Matheis, who helps shape the Eclipse-based development tool PREEvision at Vector.

In addition to supporting the platform, Johannes Matheis wants to improve collaboration between the various working groups and strengthen the open-source mindset in companies: "The Eclipse IDE as the namesake and core of the Eclipse Foundation offers so much value. This needs to be clearly highlighted in order to secure the future of this vendor-neutral IDE."

In addition to the model-based development platform PREEvision, which is used to design complete E/E systems for vehicles, and DaVinci Developer Adaptive for configuring AUTOSAR Adaptive projects, Vector uses the Eclipse IDE as the basis for other Java-based tools.

Eclipse is an open-source programming tool for developing software of various kinds. Originally, Eclipse was used as an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for the Java programming language, but in the meantime, it is also used for many other development tasks due to its extensibility.
