SYSGO Supports BAB-Q2 QorlQ Evaluation Board from ELTEC Elektronik with its certified Real-Time Operating System PikeOS

Mainz, Germany and Paris, France – February 18, 2014 - SYSGO, a leading supplier of embedded software solutions for the world’s most demanding safety and security applications, is announcing the support of the BAB-Q2 QorlQ evaluation board from ELTEC Elektronik AG by its certified real-time operating system PikeOS. The ELTEC QorlQ evaluation board BAB-Q2 provides real time performance and operates with up to 1.2 GHz. It implements a Freescale QorIQ-family-based SoC on a PCI Express slot card. The QorIQ-CPU cores used in this solution offer a comprehensive infrastructure paired with minimal power dissipation. In addition the BAB-Q2 offers Gigabit Ethernet and USBs 2.0 respectively, one SD interface for booting and two PCI Express x1 slots for the connection of peripheral applications. The board itself comes with a PCI-Express interface. As a result, it can be directly plugged into a PC motherboard, while it can also be operated as a stand-alone device. In addition to PikeOS, SYSGO provides support by ELinOS, its embedded Linux development environment for industrial applications, for the BAB-Q2. „This announcement is a further result of the strategic alliance we signed with SYSGO end of 2012. For instance, this CPU family comprises 32-Bit 1200 MHz processing at only 5 W, up to 8 cores, PCI Express and PCI interfaces. In addition, the solutions are supported by ELTEC standard or real-time Linux. The BAB Q2 real-time CPU board can be plugged into non-realtime PC. This alleviates the problem with virtualized real-time computers, where the host computer has a heavy graphics load, destroying the real-time performance of the guest system. The BAB-Q2 plug-in board is the first representative of a SoC-based product portfolio available from ELTEC. However, the ELTEC SoC platform is not exclusively restricted to QorlQ cores - other options include, in particular, FPGA and ARM-based concepts.
